From 15 May to 2 June, Dr. Tan attended the 35th CEDAW session at the United Nations headquarters in New York, where she was country rapporteur for Malaysia.

May 2006
Dr. Tan attended an informal CEDAW meeting hosted by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany in Berlin from 2 to 4 May. Committee members discussed new working methods for the Committee's future sessions and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' proposal for a unified treaty body system.  New general recommendations were also on the agenda.

March 2006
The Negro Business & Professional Association of the USA organised a workshop as a side-event to the 50th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York. Dr Tan was one of the speakers. More >>>

Dr Tan delivered a statement at the 50th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York. More >>> 

She was also one of  three speakers at a Panel Discussion on 28th February 2006,  jointly organised by ICW-CIF and NCW USA  as a side event to the CSW's 50th session. More>>>

During a workshop organised by NCW of USA, on 27th February 2006, Dr Tan attended as Moderator for discursions on the topic 'Are Neighbourhood Chemicals Blurring the Gender in our Children?'. 

January 2006
Dr Tan was one of the Working Group members on the Optional Protocol that convenend from 11th to 13th January 2006. Thereafter, Dr. Tan participated as a CEDAW Committee member at the Committee's 34th Session, from 16th January to 3rd February 2006.
